Domi Martinez

Domi Martinez was born in 1949 in Jalisco, Mexico, and was the eldest of five children. She spent her days as a child on her family's ranch in Jalisco, before moving to Mexicali, BC where she enjoyed her schooling years and meeting lifelong friends. In the mid-1970s, she immigrated to Southern California to begin her new life, while maintaining her close ties to Mexico. Her life transformed after becoming a mother to her three sons, which she made clear was her greatest joy in life by sacrificing so much of herself in the following years. After a little over a decade in Southern California, she relocated and established a new life in beautiful South Lake Tahoe with her children. She embraced the challenges of single motherhood directly with courage, self-pride, and gentle firmness. Domi enjoyed working at Harrah’s Casino for over two decades where she met people who would become friends and family. One of her true passions was to cook for those she loved, especially her boys All who got to enjoy her meals made with love would attest to her gift as a cook. She was an active member of the Asamblea Manantial Apostolica Church in South Lake Tahoe since the ’90s. Her daily passions aside from cooking were reading the Bible, enjoying worship music, and studying Theology, eventually earning a Bachelor's in Theology. Her profound faith in God was unwavering. As a mother, she provided unconditional love and instilled in her boys a strong sense of moral values, respect, and reverence for others. Her loving support as a mother and friend knew no boundaries. She spent her whole life putting others first and had a calling to help those in need. It was her courage and devout faith in her Lord and Savior that would allow her to not fear anything that came her way. To affirm this she would often say: “If God is for us, who can be against us?” (Romans 8:31). Domi is survived by her three loving sons Saul, Sergio, and Leonardo, three wonderful sisters, three beautiful grandchildren, as well as many loving and caring family members and friends in both Mexico and the US. She was preceded in death by her parents and younger sister. On April 7, Domi went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She spent most of her life devoted to preparing for this moment through her unrelenting faith. She will rest in peace in Tahoe, a haven she found for her and her boys to call home. A graveside service will be held for Domi on Friday, April 16, 2021, at 2:30 pm at Happy Homestead Cemetery in South Lake Tahoe, California. The service is Covid compliant.
